Shayna and the Red Bull KTM team worked hard this weekend to help her find the grip on track that she has been missing. Shayna showed good speed all weekend but on Friday night found herself shuffled back off the start for the semi qualifier and wasn’t able to recover to make the main event. While Shayna was not happy at all with the result she was encouraged with the direction of the bike and worked with the team to go even further with some aggressive suspension changes.
On Saturday Shayna arrived to the track earlier than normal and was in a really good mood. From the first time on track she was near the top of the lap time sheet. Shayna rode all over the track in qualifying and on her last lap turned in a time quick enough to start the semi on the front row. The semi went very well with Shayna finishing P-2 and 3rd quickest overall. The main event once again saw Shayna have difficulty on the starting line of the banked front stretch….her short stature makes it difficult to keep the motorcycle from leaning over on the start. Shayna rode fast steady laps and moved up to P-5 where she was able to hold on to the finish.
Please find Shayna’s video report from Dixie Speedway to hear it directly from her. We will head to North Carolina for the Charlotte Half Mile on Friday October9 and Saturday October 10.
